How K-Spot Now researches, writes, checks and corrects its culture guides.
Who we write for
English-speaking travelers planning their own visits to Seoul, usually for the first or second time, who want to understand what they are seeing and take part without mistakes. Each guide starts from a question such a visitor actually has: which palace to choose, how to order at a barbecue restaurant, what to do in a jjimjilbang.
How guides are researched and written
Each culture guide is researched from official records: the Korea Heritage Service and its palace pages, the national museums, the Seoul city government and district offices, venue sites, the Encyclopedia of Korean Culture for history, and reputable Korean news for rule changes. Before publication, every fact that can change (hours, fees, closing days, booking rules, transit details) is checked against a linked source and dated, and claims we cannot confirm are left out rather than guessed.
What every guide includes
The cultural meaning, explained with names, dates and symbols; our judgment on who an experience suits and what to prioritize, written as our view; and the practical detail a visitor needs, from the Korean name to type into a map app to closing days, fees, booking rules and etiquette, each tied to a linked official source.
Facts that change
Every guide shows when it was published and last updated. Time-limited changes, such as a free-entry period or a gallery closure, appear in a dated notice at the top of the guide and disappear after their end date. We re-check guides against their sources and list substantive corrections on our corrections page.
AI tools and accountability
We use AI tools to help with research and drafting. The editorial desk decides what is published and is responsible for every guide. We do not invent visits, quotes, prices or reviews, and we do not describe visits we have not made.
Photographs
Guide photographs come from Wikimedia Commons under public-domain or Creative Commons licenses, checked through the Commons API, with the photographer and license credited beside each image. Event pages use official promotional images with a source credit.
Independence
K-Spot Now is not affiliated with any palace, museum, tour operator, business or government agency. Advertising, when shown, does not decide which places we cover or what we recommend.
